Sayko Family Session Yau Mai Tei

What a joy this session was! Erica and her husband Jay, little Nate and Erica’s Mum Maryjo and her partner Casey were so open to having a cuddly, fun, energetic session on Temple Street in Yau Mai Tei.    They wanted candid and natural shots with the backdrop of one of Hong Kong’s most unique streets.  Nate was an absolute bundle of energy and curious about everything which normally in an urban session so Temple Street is a top find, not only is it colourful and vibrant which suits my photography style but it is also free of traffic in the mornings, so kids (and Adults!) can have free range of the street.  The other great thing is there are so many cool local characters and shop owners that are really friendly and welcoming and my client’s love it if we can get images with that interaction or just the local guy delivering gas bottles cycling by.

What I loved about this session the most is that I really felt the love between this family and how relaxed everyone was. We made sure Nate was engaged all the time with lots of throwing up in the air and running around and when he wanted a little break we would go and explore with him getting some more candid photos.  My top moments were photographing Erica, Jay and Nate looking gorgeous and seriously happy together.  Other moments that stood out were when Nate was pushing a street trolley we borrowed down the middle of the road and when he was supposed to go to his parents for a hug but walked right past, interested in something else at that one particular moment.   It was also lovely to photograph Maryjo and her partner Casey who have been together for 20 years and looked beautiful together.
